The Nominations Committee of the Asian Business Association (ABA) hereby adopts the procedures set forth in the ABA Bylaws for the nomination of candidates for election to the ABA Board of Directors for the 2027–2028 term.
Up to eight positions on the Board of Directors will become available at the end of this year. The Nominations Committee invites you to submit the names of ABA Professional Members* in good standing who demonstrate the leadership qualities expected of a director of a prominent business association.
Serving on the ABA Board of Directors is both a privilege and an honor. Board service should be undertaken with enthusiasm and carried out with integrity, accountability, and a strong commitment to advancing the interests of ABA members and the Asian business community.
All candidates are expected to commit to the following:
-
Uphold the mission, values, and Bylaws of ABA.
-
Be actively involved in the affairs of ABA and take a proactive role in the projects and initiatives they undertake.
-
Attend Board meetings (held on the second Wednesday of every other month) and regularly participate in ABA programs, events, and functions.
-
Contribute resources to ABA, including but not limited to products, services, professional contacts, and financial support.
-
Take a leadership role in the growth and advancement of ABA and serve as a positive role model for members and the broader business community.
-
Cooperate with fellow Board members and share knowledge, expertise, and resources that benefit ABA.
-
Disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest to the Board and recuse themselves from discussions or decisions where such conflicts exist.
-
Resign from the Board if circumstances prevent them from fulfilling their duties as a director or making a meaningful contribution to ABA.
-
Fulfill the Board's annual "Give or Get" commitment of $3,500.
-
Adhere to ABA's Ethics Guidelines and all applicable Board policies.
We encourage your support and participation in shaping the future of ABA by nominating qualified members who meet the criteria outlined above and possess the leadership, integrity, and commitment necessary to serve ABA and its members.
Please complete the nomination form and return it to the ABA office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, via the online nomination form, email at info@abala.org, or mail.
Before submitting a nomination, please confirm that the nominee has accepted the nomination and agrees to submit a Statement of Candidacy along with a current biography. To be considered a certified candidate, a nominee must be a Professional (dues paying) Member in good standing and must have attended at least four ABA events within the past two years at the time of application.
